We, as Black Men and Black Women, heard the statement : A Black Woman with children has a better chance of being hijacked then to get married....sometimes it might be a little different..."married to a Black Man"...either way this statement has many Black Women upset with Black Men, themselves, their situation...or whatever...
We at Ebony Over 30 want to look at that statement because we're disgusted when ever it's stated. IT'S ONE OF THE DUMBEST STATEMENTS AROUND AND WE FALL FOR IT...
We don't know the origins of the statement but it appears to me that it's designed to get a reaction from the Black Woman.
So we did a little fact checking we searched the internet and here is a site that we loved because the information is in plain language International Air Transport Association (IATA) http://www.iata.org/pressroom/pr/Pages/2013-12-30-01.aspx according to the site in the year 2013 there were more than 8 million people flying commercial airlines per DAY...also that the total passengers for the same year were more than 3 BILLION...those numbers are international numbers...say the United States is 10% of that ...so that 800,000 people per day flying...and 292,000,000 people per year. So therefore you the Black Woman has about a 1 in 292,000,000 chance to get married if you have a child from a previous relationship. WOW that's a dire statement.
WOW...1 in 292,000,000 chance. Remember there hasn't been an airline hijacking in the United States since September 11, 2001. So that means that the odds of a Black Man or Black Woman knowing a Black Woman with a child from a previous relationship is extremely rare. We all looked at our families, friends and co-workers to see how accurate that statement was, think about it, if there are 10 of us we should know no more than a couple of people. WELL just 2 of our members know more than 15 married couples where the Black Woman came into the relationship with a child or children. That doesn't appear to be the 1 in 292,000,000 ratio.
Why would someone come up with that statement? HHHHMMMM....We want you to look at your family, friends, and co-workers to see how many you know. Think About It.
